Made some progress on a number of projects today. My only day off this week. Not to miss taking care of Revel we got in a 5 mile walk this morning, more of a wander than a walk. We didn't really go anywhere, we just wandered.
I completed the sign up process for Watsonville Community Hospital (WCH). Passed the physical, at least I assume I did (vitals were all normal). Filled out all the papers. Had to laugh its been 17 years since I did a pre-employment physical. It was my first drug test. Very exciting. Orientation will be next Monday and my first work day is Tuesday 4/2. I will then be working one day a week for WCH.
The next thing on the agenda was to complete the loan papers 1hour and 20 minutes of signing my name. Very scary. How many pages did I sign when I bought my first home. What happen to people agreeing to things with a hand shake. I must have signed 50 pages. Loan should be funded by Friday.
The last order of business was evaluating the Solar energy bids. They were a disaster. One states it will cover 62% of our energy needs and cost 35,000 the other will cover 74% and cost 60,000. on the surface this should make it easy to decide. but the numbers don't match watts/system cost. I asked them both to explain. I also asked the $60,000 company to make it $35,000 and no more. Both of course say it will pay itself off in 6-7 years. More about this later. Might call Gary tomorrow and see what he thinks.
Got Teddy working with Wells Fargo with a Check book and Savings account tied to a web editting system. He got a lesson today on use of the ATM card. That one is growing up very fast.

Well it was a day off but, a big day for the remodel plans. After several phone calls to the mortgage company, I got the Notary to work with my schedule instead of his personal schedule. We will sign the refinance papers at 4pm on Monday and should be funded a week later.
The really big news is that I met with two solar power companies today. Very interesting, I did my homework before the meetings but did not have a clear idea about what I wanted until talking with them both. It is clear to me now that we need about 500 sq ft of panels on the roof which faces south and has exactly that amount of space. We are going to use panels that have the efficiency rating (170W to 210w) that will meet 80% of my energy needs and cost about $25-$35,000. Seems like a lot but the payback time should be 7 years, by then the kids will be gone (maybe) and we should have 100% of our needs covered and at no cost other than maintenance. It is estimated that by that time Electric from PGE will be about 35-40% higher than it is today.
The other news today is that Monday I have a physical with Watsonville Hospital and will start one day a week 4/2. The bad news is that after spending 300$ for a weeks grocery's at Safeway yesterday I think I will be working two jobs until the start of the summer so that I can get some money back into the savings accounts after buying all the baby stuff and meeting the increased daily costs of having six people at home. The good news is that given the growth, I am seeing in Ted and the fact that I really like Amber I don't mind this at all. (Gavin is a cutie as well).

Gavin news is that he has the sniffles today. Seems Ambers family, as well as our own has many allergies and Gavin is following right in line with that. He does however greatly enjoy sitting in his rocking seat in the bathroom while both showers are going and the steam clears him up pretty good. Some people are asking to see the Mom and Dad with the the baby pictures. I don't have one of all three yet but here is my favorite of Amber and Teddy.
The Pork Loin is marinating and the cheese cake is in the oven so looking forward to dinner tomorrow.

March 18th 2007

Worked the weekend, very sad. I am learning to put limits on things. I insisted that I work full days on the weekends and get two days off during the week to make up for it. So Monday is free as is Thursday. Well not exactly free. There's the 11am meeting to sign the loan documents and the 3pm interview(more about that later). The loan for the yard remodel is done, should be funded by the end of the week. So we can start on the Solar and the Yard in 2-3 weeks. Solar guys come on Thursday to talk about what we need and how much bill we can get rid of. I budgeted 25-30,000 to do that so hopefully that gets rid of most of the bill. At this point I think its about a 7 year payback, but that's not taking into count what I get in tax credits.
On the job front. I will get signed onto Watsonville Hospital at a per diem 1 day per week this week. Should change to a full time position in 60-90 days. I am going to interview with Laudin pharmacy in Santa Cruz tomorrow, more out of curiosity then anything else. They are a compounding pharmacy line AdvantaCare but instead of injectables they make oral liquids, suppositories, creams and ointments. They are expanding and looking for a director. Watsonville is still my hope for the future.
Revel is starting to impress Dorothy with his ability to obey and stay calm in stressful situations. I understand he was attached by a German Shepard at the beach and basically blew him off and sat next to Dorothy until she moved on. This is the point of our training. Elda I am trying to get you a copy of the Dog Whisperer episode that talks about training the dog to accept a baby.
Gavin is, well still very cute. Nothing really new. The kids are settling into a routine if you want to call it that. We took more pictures this week I will post to blog if I can figure it out, but I think I sent them to everyone.
That's all for now I need to figure out how to post this and invite you all to read it.
