This one is too close to home. At 2:30 today while driving to work I had to pass through the area where a wild fire broke out around 2pm. The fire started along the north bound lanes of Highway 1 from the airport in Watsonville to the top of the big hill. The fire came as close as 1/2 mile from the hospital.

We had plans in place to begin moving patients when they got the south side of the fire under control and the wind moved north-east. The drive home was long since Highway 1 and Freedom blvd were both still closed. I had to go south to Pajaro Dunes and then along the coast road to home.

Everything in town smells like it was a little to close to the campfire.
